THE PENNSYLVANIA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION INVITES YOU TO JOIN US VIRTUALLY FOR OUR 90th ANNUAL MEETING IN OCTOBER 2021!
“Justice and Rights in the Mid-Atlantic”
The Pennsylvania Historical Association (PHA) will host its 90th Annual Meeting virtually (via Zoom), on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15. Mercyhurst University is hosting the virtual meeting, which is open to all — scholars, students, teachers, archivists, activists, and history-minded organizations.
The Annual Meeting features seven panel sessions, focusing on topics relevant to today’s historical field and related to the theme of “Justice and Rights in the Mid-Atlantic.” The meeting begins on Thursday with a plenary session, A Shared Heritage: A Collaborative Community Approach to Celebrating Erie County’s African American History. Midday on Friday, Allen Dieterich-Ward, co-editor of the Pennsylvania History Series, will celebrate the launch of Slavery and Abolition in Pennsylvania with author Bev Tomek, of the University of Houston at Victoria.
On October 15, we will hold a members meeting and announce and celebrate this year’s Klein Book Prize winner, and more.
Our annual meeting is open to all, please register online and retain a copy of your confirmation email. An additional email containing log-in credentials for Zoom will be sent a week prior to the conference.
If your institution would like to sponsor the virtual conference, or simply send greetings for a successful conference or participate in the book exhibit, please contact Joe Heffley, our annual meeting coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope that you will join us virtually on Friday, October 14th and 15th for a full day of webinars that recognize the ongoing struggle of “Justice and Rights in the Mid-Atlantic.”
