THE PENNSYLVANIA HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION HELD OUR 90th ANNUAL MEETING IN OCTOBER 2021!

“Justice and Rights in the Mid-Atlantic”

The Pennsylvania Historical Association (PHA) hosted its 90th Annual Meeting virtually (via Zoom), on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15. Mercyhurst University hosted the virtual meeting, which was open to all — scholars, students, teachers, archivists, activists, and history-minded organizations.  

The Annual Meeting featured seven panel sessions, focusing on topics relevant to today’s historical field and related to the theme of “Justice and Rights in the Mid-Atlantic.” The meeting began on Thursday with a plenary session, A Shared Heritage: A Collaborative Community Approach to Celebrating Erie County’s African American History. Midday on Friday, Allen Dieterich-Ward, co-editor of the Pennsylvania History Series, celebrated the launch of Slavery and Abolition in Pennsylvania with author Bev Tomek, of the University of Houston at Victoria.
