On Wednesday, March 21, Dr. Bill Pretzer, Senior Curator at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, will be giving a FREE talk at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg entitled “From Civil War to Civil Rights: The Journey Toward Freedom.” He will be discussing the century following the Civil War in which African Americans were subject to oppression, contradiction, and transition following their emancipation from slavery leading to their eventual social emancipation in the 1960s with Civil Rights legislation. The program will commence at 5:30 pm with a reception, followed by Pretzer’s lecture at 6:30 pm.
