Call For Papers: Pennsylvania Frontier

Pennsylvania History: A Journal of Mid-Atlantic Studies is calling for submissions for a special themed edition of the journal on the Pennsylvania frontier. It is scheduled for publication in Winter 2021.

Submissions may cover topics from the colonial through early national periods in the Pennsylvania, the Mid-Atlantic, and Ohio Country regions. Essays that take new approaches to encounters between Native and colonial peoples or that frame the concept of “frontier” in new ways are especially welcome.

Timothy J. Shannon of Gettysburg College will serve as Guest Editor. Articles should be between 25-35 pages and 10,000-15,000 words in length. We also seek shorter pieces of about 1,000 words with images to highlight collections or artifacts relating to the frontier.
