Pennsylvania History: A Journal of Mid-Atlantic Studies, published by the Pennsylvania Historical Association, is issuing a call for articles to be included in a special issue on the history of crime and vice in Pennsylvania. It is guest edited by Jeanine Mazak-Kahne, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and will be published in July 2025 (92.3).

The Guest Editor seeks proposals of scholarly articles (25–35 pages, double spaced) featuring contemporary research which engages diverse themes within the subjects of crime and vice in Pennsylvania, spanning from the seventeenth through the twentieth centuries. Approaches that are of social and cultural focus are encouraged.

Articles placing Pennsylvania within the larger national and international context are welcome. Additionally, vignettes (between 1,000 and 1,550 words) that showcase a particular artifact, document or research collection welcome. Museum exhibition reviews, etc., relating to crime and vice in Pennsylvania will also be considered.

Deadline: The deadline for submissions is February1, 2025.
