Soldiers and sailors went underground with Pennsylvania miners at anthracite miners' rallies to learn how hard coal is extracted from the ground. The rallies were held from September 28th through October 1st, 1941 at Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Mount Carmel, PA
